ACTIVE MEMBERSHIP REQUIREMENTS
- Must be majoring or minoring (or the equivalent) in the discipline of English
- Must have a minimum of 2 college courses in English language or literature beyond the usual requirements of freshman English
- Must have a B or equivalent average in English
- Must rank in the highest 35% of his/her class in general scholarship (or a B average)
- Must have completed at least 3 semesters or 5 quarters of college course work
- Must be currently enrolled as a graduate or undergraduate student
ASSOCIATE MEMBERSHIP REQUIREMENTS:
- currently enrolled students who are not English majors or minors but who meet the academic standards for scholarship and are interested in literature or language;
- faculty members who have English degrees, but who are not chapter sponsors;
- ST∆ alumni who are interested in remaining involved.
DUES AND OPPORTUNITIES
If you meet the requirements for admittance into Sigma Tau Delta, you may pay a one-time fee of $40 for your international dues.
This fee entitles you to:
- lifetime membership in Sigma Tau Delta
- a membership certificate and lapel pin
- an honor cord and/or medallion to wear with your graduation robe
- a one-year semi-annual subscription to the Newsletter
- a one-year annual subscription to The Rectangle
- list Sigma Tau Delta on your résume
- apply for scholarship, internship, and writing award opportunities
- submit papers for possible publication in The Rectangle
- apply for the opportunity to serve on an international Board of Directors as a Student Advisor or Student Representative
- submit papers or panel discussion for possible presentation at an annual international convention
YOU DO NOT NEED TO BE A MEMBER OF THE INTERNATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY TO ATTEND MEETINGS AND PARTICIPATE IN THE SIGMA TAU DELTA ENGLISH CLUB ON CAMPUS. ALL WHO LOVE LANGUAGE ARE WELCOME!!!
